Photo Fair, Stockholm

In spite of my uninterest of the latest digital photo equipment I went to the Photo fair in Stockholm the other week. This time there was a lot of photographic exhibitions at the same time. Just for the fun of it ( and to be obstinate to the digital tsunami) I brought my old Rolleiflex along with a small old Canon digital compact =) Noone seemed to notice.

Perfect model. Standing still and keeps quiet.

This wasn't the best exhibition but I had a free space to take a picture

Night photography

I am on a new contract far from home. Too far to travel every day. So I rent an apartment for weekly stays there. Going home om Friday lunch and back again Sunday evening. Photographing is prohibited at work so I have lunch to make it if I'm going to get some useful light. But the other week I decided to make a night photo session and here is the result.

Low season

Photographing is low right now. But still I carry a camera always whereever I go. You just don't know when a good picture appears and I want to be ready for it. My Rollei is my companion most of the time but I also carry other old cameras. Sometimes more than one.

Exhibition

Yesterday my photo club hanged the exhibition that will start on Sunday and last for three weeks. It is called "The Red Line", meaning the subway line from Gamla stan in the centre to the farthest end Fruängen. The exhibition is held at Midsommargården at Telefonplan.

Street photography

Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of Stockholm...
Yesterday I went into the center of Stockholm to do some street photography with my Rolleiflex. My path started at Centralbadet and was southbound. Ended up at a photographers meeting at Ellens bakery =)

Borgvik

Last sunday I made a trip with my parents to Borgvik in Värmland. It's a historical place for ancestors on both sides in my family and it is the place where I married my wife.

The bricks the houses are built of is made of slag from the mill and are shimmering in colours like deep emerald green to graphite grey. A fascinating architecture.

Coffee

I visited my parents for a few days. In the daily routines there is coffee twice a day at 10 AM and 4 PM and in addition to that a cup after lunch. And it's Swedish. Black and with coffein. A killer for americans and nutrition for swedes.

The end of the world

Some days ago we went to Trosa, just an hour south of Stockholm. The small town is known to all Swedes as the end of the world. A cosy little town with small, nice houses around a small river that ends up in the Baltic Sea.

Sailor from down under, another end of the world.

Outdoor photo session

My wife and I went out to have a photo session. I was the shooter and she was directing me. But some shots I made in disobedience, like this. The best shot of all.

On the road with an English and a Russian

Yesterday I took a ride with two film cameras. Two rellay ugly ones. The English is an Ensign Ful-Vue and the other a Smena 8M. However ugly they are they produce pictures like a bumble bee flies not knowing it can't. See for yourself below. Square pictures with the English. Rectangular with the Russian.

Street photography

Yesterday I went downtown Stockholm to practise street photography. Armed with an Olympus 35 RD rangefinder and an exposure meter (that I rarely used). Only a couple of shots were made some time ago so I had almost a full roll to spend. So I shot a great deal of pictures and some of them I expected much of. At last at home I was eager to see the results and developed instantly. The first eight shots looked normal. The rest of the film was black! A quick check on the camera showed that the shutter had broken down after the eighth picture. It opened very slowly and didn't close until I cocked the shutter again. Well, I made some nice bookmarks of the ruined negatives.

Going home on rail

All good things come to an end. All travels end up at home. I took a direct train from Åmål to Stockholm with a short intermission in Karlstad. Just had to get out of the train and take some pics. I usually travel 1st class because of comfort and tranquility.

Hometown

Last week I made a visit at my parents to check out the old folks and what is new in my hometown. Everything looks the same. The only visible changes were mom not wearing glasses anymore. She had a surgery recently for cataract and now she has a perfect vision. She's been using glasses all her life but now she just need them for the crosswords and sewing. Maybe I'll make it myself. I strongly dislike my glasses. They are in the way when I'm photographing.
