Lovely dinner

On tour to the northern territories of Gotland we finally got hungry and found a nice restaurant in Lickershamn. A small harbour. My wife chosed a fish soup while I had a delicious lamb.

Roma monastery

As a monument over Christianity that didn't correspond to human needs stand the monastery of Roma as a good example. When the Reformation swept over Sweden the old catholic places were abandoned and fell into an eternal sleep. Nowadays used only for concerts and theatres.

Planting a djungle

Back from Moscow my wife was determined to turn our flat and balcony into a djungle. The first place visited did not support her aim enough so we went to another at the Bergianska garden. As a good husband I support my wifes interest, of course, while looking for good pictures =) I was also given a quest. To find some herbs for the balcony. The one I was looking for was inside the store/greenhouse. The only difference between a greenhouse and a sauna is that you are naked in the latter. I wished I was. The heat and humidity was overwhelming.

GRADUATION !!

It hasn't been raining for thirty years at the graduation in Åmål, as long as the Principal was alive. Now he is dead and the rain came. In Sweden the graduation is called Studenten and is the end of some years of education at a Gymnasium. Approximately compared to college in the US.

Music under trees in blossom

Stockholm is still after living here for a year a city to discover. Walking in Södermalm photographing architecture I found a beautiful park with a lot of trees in full blossom, the Fatburs park. Under the trees a group of musicians was making a video recording. Very nice music in a very nice environment. I just felt sorry for the cameraman. His equipment looked far from light.

Sunny Saturday

Last Saturday we went to the famous Millesgården. Home of the famous swedish artist Carl Milles. A beautiful place with a modern exhibition hall and a museum of his atelieres and home. An extraordinary place. I recommend a visit.

A day to remember.

Broken wings

Life have never been perfect for long but somehow you manage and get through anything. Sometimes I feel like this windmill with broken wings and other times everything is sunshine. Right now there is sunshine in my life. I am a happy photographer that doesn’t even worry about light.

Photographing happiness

I spent Easter Day at Ekerö in Lake Mälaren with my Rolleiflex Automat (1952).
I can't get closer to photographing happiness, I think. The Rolleiflex and I are getting friends forever. Here are some pictures from churches at Ekerö. With a taste of the 50s.

Christ is risen!

Easter Day is the day of joy. Christ rose from the dead. I celebrated the event at the service in my church and then heading out in the Sonshine for a photographic expedition.

And then the photographer appeared

Last weekend my father came for a visit and to collect his Nikon D80 he bought from a workmate of mine. On Saturday we made a photo trip to the Drottningholm palace park. After a while I found him standing there waiting for me to get out of his picture =) But I shot first. I caught the cyklop with my twin lens Rollei as he just had entered the atmosphere. His entrance resembled that of Mr. Bean to me.

Sunny Stockholm

Photographing manually is fascinating and really back to basics. Retro photography, if you like. To me it is thrilling to manage to take pictures without help from the camera or exposure meter. Well, I have an exposure meter in my head. Easier to carry =) I use Sunny 16 rule.

The real photographer

This week I bought an old camera. In fact it is older than I am. A Rolleiflex Automat 6x6, a TLR camera manufactured in 1952. I was so happy for the excellent condition of this camera that I wrote a mail especially to the seller and thanked him. He replied with a quote.

"The amateur is worried about sharpness, the profi is worried about money, the real photographer is worried about light."

Since nothing worry me right now maybe I'm an imbecile photographer.

Grandpa

Yesterday I became a grandpa to a lovely little girl. She will be a photographer, of course. She'll have one of my cameras as soon as she can handle the trigger =)

Resolution

I made a New Years resolution that will be easy to carry out this time. Life is too short to be hard on yourself. My resolution is to run at least one roll of film in all of my non-digital cameras. So far I have eleven and until today three rolls are finished. If I buy more cameras they are of course included in the resolution. Here are some picture samples from the three rolls.

Retro camera picture pool

Today a workmate and I started a picture pool at Fotosidan.se for pictures taken by cameras manufactured before 1960. I have a few retro cameras and here is a picture shot with a Zeiss Ikon Nettar 515/16 (manufactured approx. 1950) showing a pavillion at Kina castle at Drottningholm, Stockholm. We live almost next door to the Royal family =)

Walk on water

Jesus walked on water. For us northerners it doesn't seem strange. We do it - every Winter.

Hi, I'm Thomas

This is my first blog @ blogspot. It will be very irregular and mostly in English. I like photography and have more cameras than I need. I am not a collector though. I actually use all of my cameras. For fun and to maintain the skills from past days. My first picture ever taken was on a school trip in Spring 1964. Thousands of pictures have been shot since then and more are developing every day. Here is one of my first shots. I used daddys old Zeiss Ikon Nettar 515/16. It was a sunny day and he set the cameras aperture, shutter time and distance infinity before I left for my first photographing venture.
