Bridge over dark waters
Österdalälven is winding its way through the landscape and at several places you have to cross the river, either by train or by car. This time I did it by car but stopped to take pictures on a couple of bridges. Quite unexpected there was several trains passing so I had to jump in a time window to get a "rail" picture. First the bridge at Insjön which was quite easy to access.
Then the bridge in Leksand. Really hard to get near.

Land meets water
My wife and I celebrate birthdays with only a week in between in July. Every year since our first visit to the art museum Artipelag we go there to eat dinner and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. This year I also wanted to see the exhibition "Land meets water". Landscape photography from 1860 until modern time by american and european photographers, well known as well as less known. A vast collection that took some time to watch and digest. I enjoyed especially the darkroom prints since I enjoy printing my own pictures the chemical way.
Here is my own version of Land meets water taken from the roof terrace at Artipelag with my Rolleiflex.

Stockholm in Midsummer
Still alone at home I decided to check out what Stocholm is like at Midsummer. You know, people abandon the city for their summer cottages or the archipelago. I guess half of the citizens is elsewhere than Stockholm on Midsummer Eve and the day after they sleep to get sober. At approximately 7:30 I was at Sergel plaza and got that spooky feeling being the only one left in town. Ok, I met a few but it was like I expected. Extraordinary empty. Here are some shots as proof.
I used my Rolleiflex by the way.

Prince Bertil Memorial
The annual race with vintage cars, Prince Bertil Memorial, was performed late in May. This time I configured my Rolleiflex with a pistol grip and arranged the viewfinder as a sport finder. When I just arrived there it started pouring and soon it was like flooding from heaven. Well, I shot four rolls standing under huge trees and here is some of my yield.

Labour Day - a day at work
On May 1st i went to see my grandkids. When I arrived there they were occupied setting up at trampoline with a security net. When finished they jumped of course and pretty soon disagreed on whos turn it was to jump. Parents had to pause the event.
Next project was to dig a hole for a new sand box. Even here there was disagreement about whos turn it was to use the spade. Parents are not born negotiators but will earn the skill swiftly. Here are som pictures from sunny day in Björkvik.

Visiting my hometown
Last weekend I went home to visit my parents. I wanted to investigate more of their old negatives for a book I am working on and give them some PC support. I managed to do some photographing as well.
Daddy checked out some information from an old correspondence course in photography

Birthday party in Gothenburg
My son Philip had his 28th birthday last week and I took the chance to visit him on Saturday. The fastest way to Gothenburg, door to door, is the express train X2000. Walked out of my house at 6.45 AM heading for the subway. My backpack on my back and my X100 in my hand snapping my way to the metro station. Half an hour later I am at Stockholm Central.
All pictures are "click-to-enlarge"
I had breakfast at home but surprisingly I had one more on the train in spite I didn't order it with the ticket. Amazing.
Philip came to meet me at Gothenburg Central. He just woke up and was severely aching for breakfast. I made him company but declined a third breakfast. I was stuffed, least to say.
Then bus to his flat but since not every inhabitant was quite ready for the party yet we decided to take a walk in the port by the ships and docks.
We managed a VERY short visit to the Radio museum. When we entered they were closing. I shot a snapshot through the door. Well, next time...
Back home and guest are arriving in small clusters. Easygoing juvenile bohemians crowded the flat and we had a good time together. A waterpipe with apple "tobacco" came on the table and after some ritual handling a pleasant smoke filled the room and gave the whole gathering an oriental touch.
As you can see there was dinner coming up and we had a marvelous pasta with secret ingredients. Secret for you, that is. The time were rushing towards my departure and for some reason there was an intermission in the bus time schedule so Philip called for a cab. There was one right in the neighborhood so I finished my pasta in a few seconds, gathered my things and left the party after some hugs and goodbyes.
I didn't like to leave so abrupt but I couldn't miss my train.
Everything fun seems to be prohibited in railroad stations. Had a prawn sandwich as supper on the train. Stuffed again. The pasta was the best meal today.
Arrived at Stockholm Central at 10 PM and at home at 10.45 PM tired after an unusual long day but in a merry mood.

Street photography
Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of Stockholm...
Yesterday I went into the center of Stockholm to do some street photography with my Rolleiflex. My path started at Centralbadet and was southbound. Ended up at a photographers meeting at Ellens bakery =)

Small crowds at Sergel Square

Solo trumpeter at Sergel Square

Preparing a ride at Brunkebergs square

Conversation going on at Brunkebergs square

The Lord of the doves at Coin square

Close to departure at Slussen, a local traffic hub

Photographers discussing the new Leica M9 and other cameras.
